Salt Shaker Buenos Aires Restaurant Reviews

Salt Shaker's been at it again. First it was the Spanish/English food dictionary (a great resource), now he's got a great restaurant review list going. There are a lot of restaurant guides available but at least he's telling you what you can expect from the food, not just where to find it!

Visa & Documentation Links

These are just a few links I currently have. I will post more in the near future.

The official documentation and laws for immigrating to Argentina can be found at Migraciones (site is In Spanish).

To get your CDI you'll need to visit the AFIP office for your domiciles jurisdication. Then you'l visit that office to declare your domicile.

Argentine consulates are located in most of the major cities across the U.S. To find your nearest consulate simply look for the location nearest to you. I've added website links wherever they were available.

Grocery Stores (Supermercados) in Argentina

These are the major supermercados in Argentina. Although small family run markets are available everywhere, these are the biggies where it's sometimes easier to find those obscure items you might be looking for. Of course some have better product selections than others so you'll just have to decide what works best for you. But, case in point, I was looking for REAL buffala mozzarella the other day, the mozz made from water buffalo milk, and I found it both at the Jumbo Mall on Av Bullrich and Cerviño as well as at the Carrefour located in Palermo Chico in the Paseo Alcorta shopping mall.

Useful links for Apartment Rentals & Real Estate in Argentina

Here a just a few rental and real estate links for Argentina. Most are in Spanish but if you can navigate the Spanish part with someone they can be very useful. I'll continue to add more links as I can.

If you want to visit Mendoza the Anatabi Villa is a beautifully redone place to vacation.

Top Inmobiliario and SISTEMA DIXON are similar to the MLS system in the United States.

Reporte Inmobiliario provides links to current real estate activity in Argentina.

Publicasas Clasificados Inmobiliarios offers an online search as well as print version.

Zen Argentina

Google Earth image of Acassuso in Zona Norte

A few weeks ago I mentioned Google Earth, which I've listed in the sidebar links under "maps", as a great way to view an area. We actually used it for our pre-house hunting searches before we left for Buenos Aires to look at the areas around potential rentals to view green space, tree canopy, buildings, etc.

It's an interesting tool to play with and on many cities around the world you can see all of the street names overlaid onto an area, as well as grocery stores, hospitals, etc. Google_earth_image_of_san_isidro

I created an image to show just one piece of its capabilities. The area we chose is San Isidro and Acassuso in the Zona Norte suburbs of Buenos Aires. The river shows up on the right side as a big brown splotch. The Tren de la Costa and TBA trains are marked as well. Click on the thumbnail at the left to open up a full view of the area.

I'll be scanning some more maps of Buenos Aires and the Zona Norte areas, including street maps, and will post them soon.
