One day job in Buenos Aires for native English speaker

Pulled from the Yahoo group

"If any NATIVE English speakers in Buenos Aires are looking for a
quick paid job, I have been offered the following and can´t do it.

It´s a reading of an e-learning script about Human Resources for a
recording produced by a multinational company. They need someone who
can pick up a script and easily read correctly and with some modicum
of expression (ideally someone with some a background in high school
theater). It´s a commitment of three hours on Monday afternoon, Aug.
13. It´s paid although I don´t know how much they are offering. If
you are interested, contact Soledad at spicallo@gmail. com (its a
gmail.com address).

Take care,

Emily"

Getting Argentina criminal record checked for residency

This was shared on the Yahoo group today so I wanted to make sure it was passed along as it's an excellent tip!

"Hey All,

Wanted to offer another version of how to get your Argentine criminal record checked for
applying for residency. On the Migraciones website it says you either get a police report
from Policia Federal in the Migrations building or at Azopardo 690 OR you can submit a
report from the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia. They have quite a few offices in
different neighborhoods where you can show up and they give out numbers until they are
gone (usually 50). If you go first thing in the morning you can get your report in 8 hours
for $50 pesos. But if you don't mind waiting for your report and getting it the next day you
can go later in the day and pay $40 pesos.

I went to the website for Registro Nacional de Reincidencia and discovered you can make
an appointment via the internet or their 800 number and get a number without having to
wait in line and maybe not get a number. Yesterday afternoon I made an appointment for
today at 1pm. I could see how many slots were open during each hour and I chose the
least busiest time, filled out the online form with my passport number etc and printed out
my ticket. Today I got there earlier than my appointment and they just took me right in--
no waiting and it was over in 5 minutes. At the reception they accept your number, give
you a new number, you then go and pay your fee at the cashier and then wait for your
number to be called. We hadn't even finished paying and they were calling us in. Once in
the office, they confirm the information you entered in the online form, they look at your
passport, take fingerprints elecontrically (no messy ink) and voila, you are done.

Our reports will be ready tomorrow at 4pm--while you must go in person to do this
process, you can send anyone with the receipt to pick up your report (i.e. a messenger).

Easy. No getting up at dawn. No long line. No need for a mugshot or translated passport
like for the policia federal.
